Mailing Lists

Summary

This page lists the most commonly used commands for the lists served at Cyberdog.org, and the name of each currently active list.

List Commands

All commands are required to be in the *BODY* of the message. The Subject field will be ignored. And the message must be sent to the server address <listserver@cyberdog.org>, and NOT to any of the individual lists.

Also, to ensure your message will be processed properly, you should send the message using Plain Text formatting (no styles nor images) and without a "signature" or "letterhead".

All commands must be sent from the e-mail address you wish to be used in processing the command; there is no way to specify an alternate address for the action.

HELP

To get help from the listserver, you need only send a message to listserver@cyberdog.org, containing the single word

help

You will be sent a complete list of available commands, including ones not found on this page.

SUBSCRIBE

To subscribe (i.e. become a recipient of messages) to a particular list, you should send a message to listserver@cyberdog.org, containing the line

subscribe LIST_NAME YOUR_PERSONAL_NAME

So, for instance if Thomas Edward Stewart <test@cyberdog.org> wanted to subscribe to the Dog-Talk list, he might send a message containing the following line.

subscribe dog-talk Ed Stewart

After subscribing, you will be sent a confirmation message to the address used in the From: header field.

UNSUBSCRIBE

To unsubscribe from any list (i.e. be removed from the list of recipients), you must send a message to listserver@cyberdog.org containing the line

unsubscribe LIST_NAME

Your name is not required for "unsub" requests. The only requirement is that the message is sent from the same e-mail address as you wish to have unsubscribed.

Active Lists

Dog-Talk - <dog-talk@cyberdog.org>
The DogTalk list is an alternate forum for the discussion of all things related to Cyberdog. Topics should stay near Cyberdog problems, solutions to those problems, announcements of Cyberdog related products, and so forth. But, topics may include general MacOS related problems, solutions and announcements, if they will be of interest to the Cyberdog community.
